CARELOCAL volunteer visitors are matched with an older person living alone in their local area. Visits then continue weekly, on a one-to-one basis, in the older person's home. Firm friendships are forged between the volunteers and the older people, with many volunteers visiting the same person for many years now. All volunteers are registered, screened and trained before embarking on any visiting.
CARELOCAL currently supports over 100 volunteer visitors, and as this number continues to grow, we are very heartened by the obvious goodwill that exists among younger people towards their older neighbours.
Respect for the dignity of the person is all-important, with acceptance of their way of life. Some people require more attention, for example those whose mobility is restricted and involvement in life is impaired. With time, good relationships are formed and lasting friendships are developed.
We are always eager to involve new people who are willing to visit an older person in the Dublin City Council area on a weekly basis. We also need volunteers to help out with transport, DIY, and fundraising activities. If you are interested in helping in any way please submit your information below and we will contact you as soon as possible.
The Lifestyle Sports - Adidas Dublin Marathon takes place this year on Monday 26th October. Carelocal are currently looking for people to run, jog or walk on our behalf....
